We are Helsinki Shipyard - celebrating 160 years of shipbuilding excellence. Since 1865, we have been designing, building, and commissioning tailor-made, high-class passenger vessels and icebreakers for extreme conditions. We proudly continue the legacy of Helsinki's own Shipyard, right in the heart of Helsinki.
With us, you get to design and build the ships under one roof from start to finish, in close collaboration with our customers. Our specialty lies in vessels that operate on the polar seas, but we can build everything from smaller yachts to complex multi-purpose icebreakers. We've built over 50% of the world's icebreakers - without us it would be hard to navigate in the icy seas!
We are now constructing a new heavy icebreaker for the Canadian government. The vessel will be built in Helsinki before being completed at Davie's shipyard in Quebec by 2030. Additionally, the design of two icebreakers for the US Coast Guard has begun and the production of the first vessel will start this summer.
Since November 2023, Helsinki Shipyard has been a part of Group Davie together with SATA Shipbuilding in Pori and Chantier Davie in Lévis, Quebec.
We are seeking one experienced Hull Inspector and one experienced Outfitting Inspector to strengthen our block production team.
In this role, you will work in a key position ensuring the successful delivery of externally produced blocks. You will primarily work abroad at external block production sites, which may vary between projects. During a project, the work will be carried out entirely on site. Between projects, you may be assigned to other production-related specialist roles in Helsinki.
In this role, your main responsibilities will include:
-
Acting as Helsinki Shipyard's on-site representative at the block supplier's facilities, overseeing work quality, occupational safety, and production progress.

-
Production progress reporting in accordance with the shipyard's established procedures.
-
Supporting the block supplier in technical matters and proactively identifying and resolving production-related challenges.
What we expect from you
-
Previous experience as a hull or outfitting inspector on a site, or comparable experience in hull or outfitting production at a shipyard (e.g. in a supervisory or foreman role)
-
Fluent English skills, both spoken and written, as daily communication with block suppliers is primarily conducted in English. Proficiency in additional languages (such as Lithuanian or Polish) is considered an advantage
-
A responsible, solution-oriented approach to work
-
The ability to work independently and make decisions
-
Good IT skills
You will be supported by the other site team members as well as the Helsinki-based block production team.
What Do We Offer You?
- A role at a shipyard that builds some of the world's most demanding vessels
