We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Equipment Engineering to join our team working on a nuclear power plant project. In this role, you will contribute to the design and specification of critical mechanical systems and equipment used in nuclear-grade applications.
The position involves close collaboration with process, safety, structural, and automation engineers to ensure that mechanical equipment meets nuclear industry requirements for safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop technical specifications and datasheets for nuclear‑grade mechanical components and process equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Define mechanical design requirements and support the selection, sizing, and technical evaluation of equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, and valves.
- Prepare and review equipment specifications, design documents, and procurement packages.
- Lead the engineering of lifting and handling systems including cranes, hoists, winches, and custom devices.
- Manage equipment expediting to secure timely deliveries and ensure quality assurance requirements are met throughout design, manufacturing, and delivery.
- Coordinate with suppliers through technical clarifications, vendor documentation reviews, and integration of equipment into plant systems alongside other engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and contribute to design reviews, safety analyses, and qualification processes related to nuclear‑grade equipment.
Requirements
- MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience in equipment engineering in industrial projects (energy, process industry, nuclear, or similar).
- Experience with equipment specification development and vendor interaction.
- Familiarity with relevant engineering standards and codes (e.g., ASME, EN, ISO, nuclear-specific standards).
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in nuclear industry projects or other safety-critical industries.
- Knowledge of nuclear-grade component qualification and documentation requirements.
- Experience with lifting equipment or crane design/selection is an advantage.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and regulatory requirements in nuclear projects.
- Familiarity with functional safety and machinery risk assessments
