We are looking for a
Summer Trainee, Perception Software
to join Normet's Technology team in Tampere, on 4.5.-28.8.2026.
As a Perception Software Trainee, you will support development of perception capabilities that help underground machines sense and understand their environment. Your work contributes to projects involving computer vision, sensor integration, and data processing for autonomy and operator-assist features.
Main responsibilities and tasks:

Assist in developing perception algorithms (Python/C++)

Work with camera, LiDAR, radar, and sensor fusion data
-
Support implementation and testing of perception pipelines
-
Analyze datasets collected from machines and labs
-
Create small tooling scripts for data processing and visualization
-
Participate in system-level testing together with senior engineers
To shine in this position, we hope you have:

Ongoing studies in robotics, automation, computer vision, software engineering, or similar

Programming experience with Python (mandatory)

Interest in sensor technologies and perception algorithms

Motivation to learn about real-world applications in tough environments

Good problem-solving skills and curiosity

Capability to communicate in English, both spoken and written
