We are seeking an experienced Vice President, Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing, for our Minerals business area at Metso.

As Vice President of the Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing business line at Metso, you will be responsible for the performance and growth of our Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing equipment and solutions business for the Mining industry. You will lead a great global team and manage business performance, product offering and development, delivery, and business development. You will contribute to Metso's success by ensuring we develop and deliver high-quality products and services to our customers.


The team focuses on base metals, gold, battery chemicals, equipment, and process solutions globally. The product groups include Hydromet Equipment and Plants, Tankhouse Equipment, Stripping Machines, Solvent Extraction, and Thermal Processing.


Your role is to lead the Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing business line in its next phase of profitable growth. You will have the opportunity to leverage your experience in business transformation, strategic thinking, and change management to take the business to the next level in alignment with Metso's strategy. Collaboration with the aftermarket colleagues, Minerals business lines, and market areas is crucial for success.

The preferred location for this role is Espoo, Finland, or York, Pennsylvania, United States, though we offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.


The team you belong to


The Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing business line is part of the Minerals business area. You'll lead an organization of about 360 professionals globally. You will report to Piia Karhu, President of the Minerals business area, and be a member of the Minerals business area leadership team.


What you'll do

  • Lead the Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing business line with profit and loss responsibility.
  • Drive growth and profitability of the business line
  • Execute and develop the Metals refining solution strategy, in alignment with Metso Minerals segment strategy.
  • Set the commercial framework for our Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing products and solutions.
  • Lead equipment and solutions successful delivery.
  • Drive the Hydrometallurgy and Thermal Processing research and development agenda, including innovation and new product development as well as continuous product improvement.
  • Manage and develop a global team of about 360 professionals, primarily located in Finland and the USA.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Metso's business areas and Market areas to drive growth, customer satisfaction, and competitiveness.


Who you are

  • Strong track record in delivering business results in a global industrial company.
  • Experienced in leading strategy renewal, growth, and profitability improvement of international businesses.
  • Capable of building long-lasting and valuable customer relationships.
  • Capable of driving product, systems and solutions portfolio development and commercialization.
  • Experience from the minerals processing and metals refining (copper, gold, battery minerals and chemicals) market, technologies or operations considered an advantage.
  • Passion for building high-performing, collaborative teams across different countries and cultures.
  • Hands-on approach to working in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • University degree in engineering, business, or related field.
