Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical)

On behalf of our customer, we are now looking for a Commissioning Engineer (mechanical/electrical) with previous work experience related to surface treatment lines. Headquartered in Lahti, Finland, our customer is globally serving customers across multiple industries while being a key global supplier of automated surface treatment plants. This position offers a vantage point in the company's deliveries within chemical surface treatment and painting lines. It is an opportunity for you to travel the world. 


Your responsibilities will include:

  • The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for supporting the commissioning activities of the system on site, including electrical and mechanical checks, instrument setup, and coordination of commissioning tasks.
  • The role includes close collaboration with onsite personnel and continued support during the program completion phase.

Commissioning Activities

  • Execute and document the commissioning plan.
  • Coordination of site activities during commissioning phase.

Electrical & Automation

  • Set up or adjustment to 24v DC cabling for instrument set up/controls.

Instrumentation

Set up and calibrate instruments including:

  • Conductive level rod sensors
  • Endress and Hauser pH measurement
  • Endress and Hauser conductivity measurement

Mechanical

Perform necessary mechanical adjustments identified during commissioning:

  • Transporter movement limits
  • Pneumatic cylinders.
  • Machine alignments
  • Filtration equipment set up (filter press, bag filters)

Set up and calibrate chemical dosing pumps.

Documentation

Prepare documentation as necessary for the commissioning works

  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Completion certificates
  • Calibration reports
  • Test records
  • As built documentation
  • Training records
  • Punch lists/snag lists
  • Non conformance reports
  • Filtration equipment set up (filter press, bag filters)

What we expect from you

  • Master’s or bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Documented track in plant or process line commissioning.
  • Familiar with commissioning plan and instrumentation set-ups.
  • Fluent mechanical/electrical drawings litteracy.
  • Hands on experience of working at site in industrial atmosphere.
  • Systematic problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience of equipment deliveries.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Readiness to travel globally (1-2 months assignments).
  • Willingness to learn new things and cultures.
  • Fluent English, at least manageable Finnish skills required and EU residency.

The assignment will start by end of 03'26 with expected duration of 4-6 weeks. The assignment suits well for freelance entrepreneurs part of our supplier network.
