We are now looking for a Master’s Thesis Worker to join our UPM Pulp Biostreams team in Helsinki, Lappeenranta, Kouvola or Pietarsaari, Finland. The position is full time and temporary for 6 months. You can start this thesis work flexibly during the first quarter in 2024.

What you will do
In the thesis work, you will deep dive into carbon capture technologies, assess the technological readiness and evaluate the pulp process applicability. You will do this by combining different criteria and suitable assessment methods. Ideally you will create a balanced scorecard type of approach for the different technologies and ideally assess the different process solutions and their specific features from pulp manufacturing point of view. You will have a chance to network with different stakeholders within and outside UPM, and you will have the opportunity to get a broad perspective to UPM Fibres business area.
Who you are
You have a curious mindset with a highly co-operative approach. You are interested in chemical processes, new technologies and possibilities of carbon capture. You have experience and understanding in plant or process design. You exhibit systematic thinking with attention to detail, and you have extensive MS Office skills. You are fluent in English, Finnish and Swedish skills are appreciated. Knowledge of chemical technology, pulp mill operations, separation technologies or energy technologies are seen as an asset.
